AI Search Visibility: What Gamma's AEO Playbook Gets Right

A practical reading of Gamma's reported AI visibility tactics, including first-party content, agent-readable actions, comparison pages, and citation monitoring.

A recent summary of Gamma's AI visibility playbook makes a useful point: visibility inside AI answers is not won by publishing more generic content. It comes from becoming a clear, usable source.

The thread reports observations from Gamma's growth team. They are not universal laws, and some claims need broader testing. The underlying principles are still worth applying.

First-party pages are easier to trust

AI systems need stable pages that state what a product is, who it serves, what it costs, and how it compares. A company site can provide that information directly. A gated newsletter or social post is less dependable as a durable source.

This does not mean writing corporate praise pages. It means publishing specific pages with verifiable details, dates, examples, and clear ownership.

    Comparison pages answer real questions

People ask search engines and AI assistants comparative questions. A useful comparison page can answer them directly if it includes real dimensions, limitations, and source links.

A page that says a product is the best is weak. A page that explains which workflow fits each option, shows pricing dates, and identifies trade-offs is much easier to cite.

    Make actions understandable to agents

Gamma's reported approach goes beyond content. The company experimented with making product actions, discounts, and signups legible to agents.

This is the deeper shift from SEO to agent experience. If an assistant can understand the offer but cannot complete or explain the next step, discovery does not become adoption.

Structured data, explicit pricing, stable URLs, plain-language policies, and accessible forms all help. So do APIs and protocols when the workflow justifies them.

Measure citations, not only referral clicks

AI products often hide or compress the referral path. Direct traffic can increase while conventional attribution misses the influence of an AI answer.

Track branded search, cited pages, answer presence, assisted conversions, and changes in direct traffic together. Also monitor decay. An article cited this month can disappear after a model, index, or competitor page changes.

    What Deployed Engineer is changing

This site now gives every current article a canonical URL, source links, article schema, clean headings, an RSS feed, a sitemap, and AI-readable indexes. The writing is organized around questions people actually ask, including forward deployed engineering, agent infrastructure, and AI coding tools.

That improves eligibility for discovery. It does not guarantee a ranking. Search visibility still depends on external links, consistent publishing, crawl access, and submitting the domain to search consoles.

    A practical AEO checklist

    • Publish original answers on a first-party domain.
    • Put the direct answer near the top of the page.
    • Include dates, authorship, and primary sources.
    • Build focused comparison pages with honest limitations.
    • Keep important content available without a login.
    • Use descriptive internal links between related articles.
    • Maintain sitemap, RSS, structured data, and AI-readable indexes.
    • Recheck how the brand appears in major answer engines every month.

The objective is not to manipulate an answer engine. It is to make the site unusually easy to understand, verify, and recommend.
